A modern ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT

We are thrilled to announce that our project, Villa Berkel, has been selected for the prestigious National Steel Award in the Netherlands, by Bouwen Met Staal. This modern architectural project, built using our advanced light steel frame system, is the perfect example of synergy between aesthetics, energy efficiency, and engineering excellence.

Villa Berkel is entirely constructed using a steel frame system. The combination of cold-formed steel and hot-rolled steel has pushed the boundaries of architectural creativity.

The project is located in the Nieuwe Warande neighborhood of Berkel-Enschot and was designed by BAAS Architecten, with the structural design by Burinco. KG-Staalframebouw played a key role in the execution, while BeSteel was responsible for the design and fabrication of the steel frame, showcasing the flexibility and strength of our light steel frame system.

General Information About This Modern Architectural Project

  • Details of Steel Construction:
The structure combines a light steel frame with hot-rolled steel to form the envelope. This method is used for hollow walls, inner sheets, floor slabs, roofs, and canopies.

  • Architectural Concept:
The villa’s design emphasizes light, air, and space. Continuous lines and rounded intersections create a seamless flow and enhance the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

  • Structural Details:
The first floor is cantilevered, with beams and columns concealed within the walls and floors. This enables glass corners without visible supports, maintaining an open aesthetic.

  • Implementation Aspects:
The construction process involved first prefabricating the steel frame, then installing the frames and systems in a continuous and efficient sequence.

  • Functional Aspects:
The villa offers unobstructed views from every room and hallway. The integration of installations into the steel frame eliminates the need for visible structural elements.
